About

VDL Gold is a gold exploration and mining technology company. It is seeking to explore in Victoria Australia what are commonly called deep leads.

Deep lead deposits have unique geotechnical characteristics that require the application of extraction methods different to those used for shallow lead deposits. The historical non availability of environmentally sustainable mining technologies that allowed for the extraction and commercialisation of deep lead product to market has meant that Victoria’s deep lead alluvial gold
deposits remain largely unexploited.

Minimal Environmental Impact

Technological advances, particularly over the last decade in offshore oil, deep sea mining, underwater cable lay and trenching industries have potential application in the onshore extraction and commercialisation of these deep lead alluvial deposits. In particular these technologies involve “pumping of the gravels” and allow for mineral extraction with minimal environmental impact and no need for chemical extraction processes.

Part of EL5365  is an area known as Norbury’s. This area was mined in the early 1900s but mining ceased in 1940 due to the inability to deal with the water.
In 1992 Mervyn McPherson who was then 74 and who worked on the mine from 1937 to 1940 gave an interview as to the conditions existing at the mine and interestingly the type of gold that was extracted.
